How to reach Aamraban? 1) To reach Aamraban Resort, you can either take any of the trains that operate on the Konkan Railway route, from Mumbai or Goa and alight at the station of Chiplun. From there, Aamraban, which is situated in the mountain village of Parshuram, is a mere 6 km away. Transport by rickshaw from the station can be arranged on request at the time of booking.

2) Alternatively, you can reach Aamraban Resort by road from Mumbai, Pune or Goa by taking the National Highway (NH) 17. The approximate distance of Parshuram village from any of these places is 250 km and can reach by personal vehicle in about 6 hours. State Transport (ST) and private buses also regularly ply between Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Chiplun. Aamraban Resort is just a 5 minute walk from the highway.

What to expect at Aamraban? At Aamraban you can expect warm and friendly hospitality and a very comfortable and resonably-priced stay, with good connectivity in terms of transport and telecom. Aamraban serves the choiciest vegetarian Marathi cuisine, with a special focus on the Kokan region.

Aamraban literally means "Mango Orchard" and is located in a thick mango plantation, complete with other native trees of the region like jackfruit, coconut, kokum, cashewnut, ain, teak, silk cotton tree and bamboo. One can regularly hear the chirping and twittering of myriad avian friends from the rooms and the verandahs like bulbul, magpie robin, Malabar whistling thrush, coppersmith and tailor bird, to name a few.

Aamraban also houses a traditional cattle-shed in a far corner of the resort, where visitors can experience the traditional dairy sector of the region, first hand. Needless to say, the dairy products served at Aamraban are made of fresh local milk!!

What to expect in Parshuram village? Parshuram village is snugly perched on a mountain-top on an off-shoot of the main Sahyadri range (Western Ghats). It derives its name from Lord Parshuram (the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu) and this is the place where the Lord is supposed to be residing for eternity. Lord Parshuram is also said to have created the Kokan region or the western coast of India, by reclaiming the sea. Thus, the village has a distinct spiritual charm of its own.

Added to that is the verdant greenery, which is typical of Kokan region. Tall evergreen trees create a very enchanting ambience for the village and even in the hottest summer months, the village boasts of several trickling streams of natural and cool fresh water. In the monsoons, the place is nothing less than paradise, while the winter is equally beautiful. Following are the major places of tourist and religious significance in Parshuram village:

  1. Parshuram Temple (700 years old)
  2. Dutt Temple (situated above the village and offers scenic view of Chiplun valley)
  3. Dhavji well (a multi-layered well which allows visitors to descend to the first level)
  4. Parvateshwar shrine (situated in a small forest beyond Dutt Temple)
  5. Nisarg Point (offers panoramic view of the Vasishthi River on the plains below)
  6. Natural caves above Dutt Temple (originally meant for meditation)
  7. Savatsada Waterfalls (only during rains)
